Dr. H. Michael Chung is Professor of Information Systems at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). He is Director of the Center for Information Strategies and Technologies (CIST). In addition, Dr. Chung is the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Information Technology Management (JITM). He is a co-founder of the Institute of Management and Technology Strategies (IMATS) and serves as Executive Vice President.
He received his Ph.D. and MBA from UCLA and was a system engineer at IBM prior to his academic career. Before coming back to California, he was a professor at Texas A & M University, College Station. He was a distinguished visiting professor in Japan and had a visiting position in Mexico. In 2000, he was Conference Chair of the annual Americas Conference on Information Systems. At CSULB, he served as Director of Graduate Programs and Executive Education. For many years, he served as an evaluator of the ABET Commission, an examiner for the Baldrige-based Competition, and a judge for the Berkeley Entrepreneurship Competition. He is Editor-In-Chief of Journal of IT and Management.
He received IBM Fellowship, E. W. Carter Award, Association for Information Systems Award, and Society for Information Management Award. He was a Boeing Fellow in mid 2000’s. His research and development projects were funded by Hewlett Packard, Verizon, Boeing, Honda, IBM, and GMAC among others.
His current research interests are ‘Strategic Management of information Technologies,’ ‘Data Mining,’ ‘Mobile Collaboration System,’ ‘Smart Cities and Internet of Things, ‘Financial Technologies,’ ‘Blockchain’, and ‘High Tech Business Model.’
